Sant'Ippolito Estate is situated between the etruscan Volterra and the
Tyrrhenian sea, facing the Elba, Capraia and Gorgona islands: two ancient houses stand in a 50 acres of natural park, with olives groves, holms, and Mediterranean scrub. They were built between the eighteenth and the nineteenth century by two gentlemen, one was english, the other one was russian-florentine, sent by the Grand Duke of Lorena to reactivate the nearby old copper mines of Montecatini Val di Cecina.
Carefully restored by the present owners, the house of Colombaino (200 square metres) and the Manor-house of Sant'Ippolito, (450 s.m.) can be fascinating places for summer or winter holidays, in the most beautiful tuscan countryside.
The houses are surrounded by uncontaminated and imposing natural landscape: the private park with a natural pond, is an ideal location for mountain biking, trekking and nordic walking. Sandy beaches and rocks are reachable in half an hour by car, as well as the famous super Tuscan vineyards: the village of Bolgheri and the surrounding area offer delicious wine bars and cellar for tasting. It takes 15 minutes to reach the nearest restaurants and shops in the picturesque villages of Casale Marittimo, Guardistallo e Montescudaio; half an hour to reach Volterra and the seashore; one hour to Siena and Pisa; about one hour and half to Lucca and Florence.
